The Climate Challenge Fund aims to help communities across Scotland take action to combat climate change.
The Scottish Government is working in partnership with a supporting alliance of key organisations and networks to ensure communities have advice and support to develop plans to reduce their carbon use.
The supporting alliance will be co-ordinated by the Sustainable Development Commission Scotland.
Organisations who are part of the alliance will provide advice and support to communities who have an idea on how to reduce their carbon emissions, but may need some help and direction to help put their ideas into action.
The fund has an emphasis on building capacity within communities to facilitate climate change action, therefore the alliance includes NGOs and voluntary sector organisations to ensure that communities are at the heart of the work.
– to develop a shared sense of purpose amongst national stakeholder bodies in supporting the purpose and delivery of the Climate Challenge Fund
– to provide a network where active and prospective CCF communities and stakeholders (including national stakeholder bodies, local authorities and businesses) can exchange good practice and learning
– to support Government work on evaluation of actions by CCF communities in tackling climate change.
